New Delhi, Dec 27 : Minister of State for External Affairs Anand Sharma today said that the assassination of former Pakistan’s Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto is a “blow to the democratic process” in that country.
He said that India is shocked and saddened over Bhutto’s “untimely” and “violent” end to her promising political career.
“It happened at time when people in Pakistan were looking up to her,” Sharma said, adding that she has a “huge” stature in her country.
He said there were no words to condemn the abominable attack.
New Delhi / Rawalpindi, Dec.27 : Thursday afternoon’s assassination of former Pakistan Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto in Rawalpindi’s Liaquat Bagh area can be compared in terms of fate to what former Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi suffered.
Both were children of former Prime Ministers i.e. Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Indira Gandhi. Both came from prominent political dynasties in their respective countries, and were given the best in terms of education.
