There is no denying to the fact that the hatchback model form the door of Volkswagen has been able to easily make a mark for itself in the Indian market but the product is surely struggling to pick up pace due to the higher than expected demand from the consumer and parts shortage. Factors like component shortage and quality issues have forced the German auto major to make the consumers wait for close to three to four months.

In fact, people close to the development say that it has also resulted in some potential customers to driving away in rival products such as Ford Figo, Hyundai i10, GM Beat and Maruti Swift.

Be it the Volkswagen's inability to anticipate demand or the long quality issues, but the company has surely missed the huge volumes that it could have banked in the first phase itself.

While the spokesperson of the company was not available for comment, a company official confirmed the development by saying that there is a situation for component shortage with the Polo.

It is to be mentioned here that Polo is Volkswagen's most ambitious launch in India so far.
