President Looking to Fast Track Final Phase of Healthcare Bill

President Obama Last night, President Obama and the Congressional Democrats met to discuss the healthcare legislation, which is now in its final stages of being passed, and although the White House has not shared too many details about the meeting, one thing which the officials have made very clear is that they are alright with fast-tracking the final phase of the bill, cutting back the public hearing and any Republican involvement.

"The President is anxious to get the differences worked out and get a bill to both houses and passed out of them", said White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs.

The President will be deeply involved with every phase as well, and the White House has jut announced that he has another meeting scheduled this afternoon with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and other top House Democrats.

Speaker Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nevada, who led a delegation to the White House last evening, have both not appointed a House-Senate conference committee in order to effectively workout that different in their different healthcare bills.

Democrats are, however, busy negotiating among themselves, in both chambers, with hopes that a common bill can be forged, which would highlight some changes to the present legislation.
