Princess Mathilde of Belgium gives birth for a fourth time
Brussels - Princess Mathilde of Belgium gave birth Wednesday to a fourth child, a girl named Eleonore Fabiola Victoria Anne Marie.
Princess Mathilde and the heir apparent to the Belgian throne, Prince Philippe, Duke of Brabant, already have two boys and one girl, all born between October 2001 and October 2005.
Eleonore was born at 4:50 am (0250 GMT) at the Erasme hospital in Anderlecht. She weighs 3.2 kilograms and measures 50 centimetres. The baby and the mother are both fine, doctors said.
"You have in front of you a proud father," the Crown Prince told reporters.
"My wife did a great job, we are very, very happy," he added.
His wife, who is 35 and used to work as a speech therapist, is of Belgian and Polish ancestry and is expected to become the first Belgian-born Queen Consort. (dpa)
