Guwahati, Sept 14: Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil will make an aerial survey of the flood-affected areas of Assam today.
During his visit, Patil will meet state officials at a high-level meeting and will take stock of the flood situation. The government of Assam will also make a detailed presentation on the latest flood damages to the Home Minister.
Guwahati, Sep 4 : Animals in Kaziranga National Park and Pabitar wildlife sanctuary have moved to highlands to escape floods in the Brahmaputra river.
Animals fled to higher ground in Kaziranga National Park after the Brahmaputra burst its banks and flooded most of the park, home to more than half of the world''s population of one-horned rhinoceros.
According to reports, at least two rhino calves were drowned and a number of elephants were swept away by floodwaters.
Guwahati, Aug 25 : Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh today stressed the need on balanced regional spread of medical facilities and education to make them accessible to the poor people in different regions.
Speaking after laying foundation stone of a new medical college at Jorhat here, Dr. Singh said, the country is facing insufficient medical education and health care facilities and it needs a special attention with a professional role.
