Srinagar, Feb 4: Srinagar received fresh snowfall on Monday thereby bringing relief to the residents from the extreme chill that was sweeping the Valley for past few days.
"We are happy after receiving fresh snowfall. Snowfall reduces the intensity of cold. We also get rid of impurities of water. We pray to God for more snowfall," said Imtiyaz, a resident.
Entire Srinagar is under a thick blanket of snow with trees, rooftops, roads and parks covered with excessive snow. Kids enjoyed playing with snowballs.
Kishtwar (J&K): Harkat-ul-Jehad-al-Islami (HuJI) leader and mastermind behind UP blasts, Bashir Ahmed alias Saba, has been killed in an encounter with security forces at Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtawar District.
Ahmed, a resident of Kishtawar district was wanted by Jammu and Kashmir police in connection with serial blasts in three court premises of Uttar Pradesh in November last year which killed a dozen people and injured several others.
Ahmed is also believed to be involved in Hyderabad blasts in August last year, which killed over 50 people.

Srinagar, Jan. 14: Despite a heavy snowfall in the higher reaches of Kashmir valley, many wild Hangul deers at the Dachigam National Park near Srinagar are finding the wildlife sanctuary a safe haven and are comfortable due to the special arrangements made by the wildlife rangers here for them.
Found only in Kashmir in the country, Hanguls are endangered animals. These days special arrangements have been made for their meal and security by the personnel of the Jammu and Kashmir’s forest department.
Jammu, Jan 13: An army jawan has reportedly committed suicide by shooting himself after an argument with his seniors in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.
According to official sources, sepoy Ganesh Chandra of 52 Engineers Regiment took the rifle of his colleague after an argument with his seniors on Saturday night and fired at himself.
After hearing the gunshots, senior officers rushed the jawan to a hospital where he died, they added.
Chandra was posted on guard duty near Line of Control (LoC) in Bhimber Gali area of Rajouri district
