England coach Moores defends Panesar

Monty PanesarChandigarh, Dec. 17 : England coach Peter Moores has defended the bowling of Monty Panesar, who failed to nab wicket in India's second innings in the Chennai Test that concluded on Monday.

"I have sympathy for Monty. He probably hasn''t played in a competitive game for three months. We didn''t have a warm-up game and that is difficult for a spinner who wants to bowl some overs in match conditions," The Independent quoted Moores, as saying.

England clears Mohali as second test venueMohali, Dec 11: The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has given security clearance for Mohali as the venue for the second test in India.

ECB''s Managing Director Hugh Morris has confirmed Mohali as the venue for the second Test match and said that the England team is looking forward to play at Mohali.

"I would like to say a very big thank to the Punjab Cricket Association and previously to the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association. The England team is delighted to be back in India," said Morris.

Indian, English security officials inspect Mohali Cricket Stadium

Mohali/Chandigarh, Dec 10: Security has been beefed up in Mohali ahead of the second cricket Test match between India and England, as six persons were arrested with explosives in nearby Chandigarh city.

England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) Security Advisor Reg Dickason, who assessed the security arrangements at the Stadium with the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) officials and security agencies, said that a a detailed meeting would take place on Wednesday.

PCA President I S Bindra asserted that ECB had suggested Mohali as the venue for the second Test match and there was no doubt about hosting the match there.

Chief selector Krishnamachari SrikkanthChief selector Krishnamachari Srikkanth lauded the century scored by Sourav Ganguly at Mohali against the Australians and asked the southpaw to come up with more hundreds in his last series so that he goes out on a high.

Speaking with the media persons, Srikkanth said, “I am very happy Ganguly is doing so well. He still has two more matches to go.”

"I will be very happy if he gets centuries in the next two matches and goes out on a big high," added Srikkanth.

Kumble, the highest wicket taker for India, failed to pick up a single wicket in the first test match at Bangalore. Due to a shoulder injury, he also dropped two vital catches in the match. 

Commenting over his shoulder injury, the 37 year old Jumbo said, “I’m feeling better now, will decide on my playing tomorrow morning.”
