Sydney, Feb. 15 : Australian one-day fast bowler Nathan Bracken has said that the experience of watching common Australians battling the bush fires in the southern part of the country will stay with him forever.

"As a professional cricketer your career is defined by what you do on the field: the hundreds you score, the wickets you claim or the great catches you take. But it is often the things we experience away from the game that bring emotion and meaning to our lives," Bracken writes in article for the Sydney Morning Herald.

Sydney, Feb. 15 : Former Australian captains Steve Waugh and Mark Taylor will lead their celebrity teams in a fundraiser Twenty20 cricket match to gather aid for Victorian bushfire victims.

Waugh and Taylor immediately agreed to play when the proposal of the match was put before them, said David Gilbert, Cricket NSW chief executive.

"They said yes straight away. Once again, they are leading the way, just as they did in their playing days, and the response from players, past and present, plus the personalities has been fantastic," Gilbert stated.

Sydney - Survivors returned Saturday for a glimpse of once-picturesque Marysville, the mountain hamlet north of Melbourne hardest hit by Australia's worst forest fires.

One in five of its residents is thought to have died when a blaze believed deliberately lit rushed the town February 7 and gutted all but a dozen buildings.

Sydney  - Residents of Marysville, Australia, where one in five residents are thought to have died in last weekend's forest fires, were bused back Saturday for a brief look at what's left of their once picturesque township.

They won't be allowed off the buses because forensic teams are still at work locating and identifying the 100 bodies thought to be in the burned-out cars and flattened buildings.

Sydney, Feb. 13 : Australian Twenty20 captain Michael Clarke has been ruled out of Sunday''s clash against New Zealand after his back injury played up.

The Australian selectors have called in Victoria''s Rob Quiney as his replacement. Fast bowler Mitchell Johnson will also miss the game due to an ankle injury.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Brad Haddin will lead the team while Cameron White will be his deputy.

"It''s unfortunate that Michael Clarke has been forced to miss the game due to injury," Andrew Hilditch, the chairman of selectors, said.
