London - The British government announced plans Wednesday to clamp down on prostitution involving women who are controlled by pimps or have become victims of so-called sex-slave trafficking, mainly from Eastern Europe and Asia.

Men who have sex with women trafficked or forced into prostitution would in future face prosecution as paying for sex with a woman "controlled for another's gain" would become a "strict liability offence," Home Secretary Jacqui Smith said.

London - The families of the two Britons among the 25-member crew of the Sirius Star tanker said Wednesday they hoped the two men would be "home safely very soon."

The two men were named as chief engineer Peter French and James Grady, Second Officer on the vessel captured by pirates off the East African coast.

Earlier Wednesday, British Foreign Secretary David Miliband called for the immediate release of the crew.

London - The extent of support in Britain for the far-right British National Party (BNP) was revealed Wednesday with the publication of the personal details of more than 12,000 members and supporters on an internet site.

The list, published on the website Wikileak, gave the names, addresses, and in some cases the professions, of members who include serving and former soldiers, police officers, teachers and doctors, reports said Wednesday.
