Islamabad, Nov 1 : Suspected US missiles struck two deadly blows, killing 32 mainly al Qaeda terrorists and injuring a key Taliban commander in North and South Waziristan agencies on Friday.

Two missiles hit a pick-up truck and a house west of Mir Ali in North Waziristan on Friday, killing 20 mainly Arab fighters, officials said.

Security officials said Abu Akash al-Iraqi, an ageing al Qaeda leader, was suspected to be killed in the attack.

He was living in the house rented from a local, Amanullah, the Daily Times reported.

Two further missiles fired by a suspected US drone at a hideout near Wana in South Waziristan killed 12 suspected Taliban soon after, a senior security official said.

Washington, Oct 31: A US intelligence official has said that the series of homicide bombings in Somalia on Wednesday “were probably the work of a local group that was likely facilitated by al Qaeda.”

The official described the attacks as a fairly sophisticated and complex event, which has all the attributes of an al Qaeda attack. No one has claimed responsibility for the attacks yet.

The wave of homicide bombings killed more than 20 people in northern Somalia, striking just as international leaders held talks on ending decades of deadly turmoil in this chaotic African nation.

Riga - Relations with Russia are likely to be the focus when a generous sprinkling of former presidents, prime ministers and assorted other regional bigwigs descend on the Latvian capital of Riga this weekend for a NATO-sponsored conference.

Topping the bill will be Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili, on his first visit to the Baltic region since his country went to war with Russia in August.

Baltic and central European nations gave Saakashvili strong backing during that war and will be heavily represented at the conference. Saakashvili will appear with Latvian President Valdis Zatlers, Estonian President Toomas Hendrik Ilves and Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko during a November 1 debate titled "A vision of Europe, whole and free."

London, October 30 : Britain had witnessed soaring cyber crime rates in 2007, reveals an online identity firm.

The report has shown that cyber crime in the UK rose by more than 9 percent in 2007.

According to Tom Ilube, chief executive, ‘Garlick’, majority of the crimes committed online were in relation to fraud and abusive or threatening emails leaving more than two million people prone to online harassment.

Though online financial fraud took a huge leap in 2007 with a 20 per cent rise, cases of online identity theft had gone down by 8 per cent followed by online sexual offences that fell by 2 per cent.

Landikotal (Pak), Oct 30 : The Pak-Afghan Highway has proved to be unsafe for local dwellers, passengers and transporters from Takhta Bag check-post to Torkham border, in the wake of bomb blasts, suicide attacks, firing and kidnappings.

Attacks have mainly taken place on trucks carrying supplies for the US and Afghan troops deployed in Afghanistan to combat Taliban and Al Qaeda.

New Delhi - Envoys of the Dalai Lama, the exiled Tibetan spiritual leader, were travelling to Beijing on Thursday for a new round of talks with Chinese officials, a senior Tibetan official said.

"The envoys Lodi Gyari and Kelsang Gyaltsen took a flight for Beijing early Thursday morning. They will be there (Beijing) for about a week," said Thubten Samphel, spokesman for the Tibetan government-in-exile in India.
