Rajasthan Electronics and Instruments Limited (REIL) has announced that it has bagged a Rs 300 crore contract from the Rajasthan government in order to establish solar power packs in the state.

Out of total Rs 300 crore, central financial aid of Rs 92 crore has been approved by the ministry of new and renewable energy, REIL said.

A solar pack comprises solar-powered rechargeable batteries that can be operated as a stand-alone unit.

The packs will be installed in more than 9,169 panchayats with a total capacity of 11 MW.

The electronic products manufacturer also said it had signed a five-year maintenance contract for the project.

REIL is a JV of the government of India and Rajasthan administration and has been conferred the status of a "Mini Ratna". (With Inputs from Agencies)
