Reliance Telecom approaches Delhi high court over 2G allegations

Reliance Telecom approaches Delhi high court over 2G allegationsReliance Telecom (RTL), a unit of the Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group, along with three of its executives has approached the Delhi High Court for revoking the charges laid against them in the 2G spectrum allocations case.

The company has been named in the case involving allocation of 2G licence in January 2008. They are appealing against the allegations framed against them by a CBI court in the case. They have challenged the trail court's order that frame the executives with criminal conspiracy, cheating and forgery.

RTL said that it was not involved in any wrongdoing and the charges framed against it are false. CBI has charged Reliance executives Gautam Doshi, Hari Nair and Surendra Pipara with allegations.

The petition by RTL said, “No incriminating material has been indicated in the chargesheet or by the prosecution in its submission on the charges.” The petition said that the charges have no basis in law and that there is no act or omission attributable to the petitioner.

RTL said that Swan Telecom had filed the application for spectrum several months before disgraced former telecom minister; A Raja even took the position. The trial court had earlier dismissed arguments form RTL that it is not associated with Swan Telecom saying it was, directly or indirectly, holding 100% shares in STPL.
