Samsung launches first ever 3D television
Samsung became the first ever manufacturer to launch a 3D-ready television set. The set was put on sale yesterday in the UK.
The set, which has been priced at £1,799 is launched at selected branches including John Lewis, Curry's and Comet.
Panasonic is the next in line to launch a 3D-ready television set up next week with Sony and LG to follow in the coming months.
However, customers only have "Monster vs Aliens" to be watched on 3D Blu-ray. They will be able to access Sky's 3D channel later this year.
The customers will need to purchase a pair of battery-operated active glasses in order to watch 3D contents. The pair is expected to cost them another £150.
John Kempner of John Lewis said that though there are very less 3D content available today, the day is not far when there will be more films, television programmes and games available on this particular format.
