Sania crashes out of Rogers Cup Sania Mirza has failed to overcome last hurdle for qualifying to the main draw of the USD 2 million WTA event, Roger Cup as the wild card holder Heidi El Tabakh halted her campaign in the final round of qualification event of women's singles in Toronto on Sunday.

Indian tennis ace Sania went down to the world no 194 Heidi in a three setter match 1-6 6-3 3-6. Sania surrendered first set but came back strongly to level the match with one set each. But she failed to continue her momentum in the final set and lost the set and the match.

Heidi broke serve of 74th ranked Sania twice in the first set while Sania broke her thrice in the second set and also saved three breakpoints. Sania missed a golden chance to qualify for this lucrative event as the qualification round was consisting of just two rounds. Heidi had upset the top seed and world number 35 Anastasia Avlyuchenkova in the first round. Sania and her Italian partner Francesca Schiavone will play against Akgul Amanmuradova of Uzbekistan and Alla Kudryavtseva of Russia in the women's doubles.
