Seven More H1N1 Deaths Take India Toll To 366
Seven persons lost their lives on Wednesday because of the deadly H1N1 flu, taking India's death toll to 366.
According to health officials, out of seven new cases, four persons died in Kerala, while two fatalities were reported from Karnataka and one from Maharashtra.
With these deaths, Kerala's death toll climbed up to 9, whereas Karnataka's toll stands at 103 and Maharashtra's 148.
It is learnt that an 18-year-old boy died in a govt hospital, while a 38-year-old woman breathed her last at a private hospital, both in Bangalore.
Details regarding the deaths, which took place in Kerala and Maharashtra, were unavailable.
I. R. Perumal, Karnataka Principal Secretary for Health, stated, "People should take all preventive measures, which include avoiding crowded places and maintaining personal hygiene. People with swine flu symptoms should immediately check with doctors and get needful tests done."
India also reported 101 new swine flu cases, today, which takes the total number of confirmed cases to 11,354.
Samples from 47,584 people have been examined for the deadly flu in government as well as private labs all over the country, and 23.8% of them have been tested positive.
