Shahbaz Sharif takes oath as Punjab CM today

Lahore, June 8 : President of Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) Shahbaz Sharif will take oath as new Punjab Chief Minister today.

Meanwhile, members of Pakistan Muslim League (Q) under the leadership of opposition leader Chaudhry Zaheeruddin Khan continued their protest in front of the Assembly Hall.

The PA session to elect leader of the house has started under Speaker Rana Muhammad Iqbal.

Talking to media outside the Assembly, nominated CM of Punjab Shahbaz Sharif said that he would persuade the opposition to attend the session, The News reported.

Sharif will take oath as Punjab CM on Sunday (today) evening after ascertainment from the house. He will be elected unopposed as nobody has filed nomination papers against him.

Punjab Assembly Speaker Rana Iqbal accepted nomination papers of Shahbaz Sharif for the CM office and asked him to get ascertainment from the session on Sunday after which he will be declared Punjab Chief Minister.

The Punjab Governor has already convened a special session of the provincial assembly at 10 a. m. on Sunday for the election. (ANI)
