Shaukat Aziz fears for his life if he returns to Pak, says Musharraf

Islamabad, June 19 : Pakistan former primier Shaukat Azizhttp://topnews.in/uploads/pervez-musharraf1.jpgPakistan President Pervez Musharraf has claimed that former primier Shaukat Aziz, who is presently living in London, is scared to return to Pakistan and fears that the present coalition government might not give him enough security and also put his name on the exit control list after which he would be “dumped” in Pakistan.

According to Musharraf, Aziz also fears that he might be indicted in several cases as his political opponents are linking his name to the Lal Masjid saga and the Balochistan operation.

Musharraf said he invited Aziz thrice to come back to the country and defend his much-criticised economic policies, but the latter refused saying he feared for his life, reported The News.

Musharraf quoted Aziz as saying that he would not return until he was given concrete guarantees and he feared that his life would be threatened if he returned.

At the same time Musharraf said that Aziz might not face any attacks on his life as he spent some months after the new regime assumed power. “When the tenure of his government ended, Shaukat Aziz remained in Karachi for a while without any security cover and nothing happened to him. No attacks were made and I don't think now anything would happen to him either, so there is no harm in coming back,” said Musharraf. (ANI)
