Shooters Again Fail To Fire At Olympics

Sorry we missed it again!! That’s what both the shooters from India, Gagan Narang Shooters Again Fail To Fire At Olympicsand Sanjeev Rajput might be thinking of themselves after failing to make it in the finals of the men’s 50 metre Prone Rifle at the Olympics on Friday.

Narang who was the first sports person to qualify for the Beijing Olympics 2008 in the rifle category finished a depressing 35th on Friday with a series of 98,98,99,96,99,99 to total 589 at an average of 9.817. Earlier this shooter from Hyderabad also failed to make it to the finals for the 10 metre air rifle.

However, another Indian in the same event Sanjeev Rajput finished quite better than Narang at 26th. Rajput scored 591 points in a series of 97,100,99,98,99,98 at an average of 9.850.

The gold went to Artur Ayvazian of Ukraine who shot a 702.7. Ayvazian, who had finished ninth in Athens in 2004 said, “It is the greatest success I have ever had. It is harder to maintain the first place in the final, but I made it.”
