Situation under control after Radio Jockey's Apology to Prashant Tamang

West Bengal Pradesh Congress has requested Mr. Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi to take action against the comments of a radio jockey about Indian Idol winner Prashant Tamang.

Idol winner Prashant Tamang has said that he will be taking action against the RJ from New Delhi based FM Channel and also said that the comments have hurt sentiments of the community. The radio jockey Nitin has apologized to the whole Gorkha community and Prashant Tamang. The FM channel has also issued a statement with apology from the community.

The DJ had also said, “Chowkidwar se Indian Idol tak” for Tamang. The Radio Jockey during his show said, “Shopkeepers will now have to make their own security arrangements as Gorkhas have taken to singing."

The situation is now under control. Siliguri and Darjeeling were under tension for the day. Border Security Forces were called out to keep the situation under control in both towns. The bandh call given by Prashant Tamang Fan Club has been called off after apology from the RJ and the station.

Pradip Bhattacharjee, President WB Pradesh Congress said, ''We have urged the Information and Broadcasting Minister to take action against the channel that created the tension.''

Meanwhile, West Bengal CM, Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee has issued a statement in this regard and said that action will be taken against the channel after getting a word from Union I&B Minister.
