"Slumdog Millionaire" child star homeless nowAzharuddin Ismail, "Slumdog Millionaire" child star is homeless now despite the increasing fame of the film. Ismail lived in one of the shanties demolished by Mumbai authorities.  

U.D. Mistry, the local official in charge of the demolition drive said that the shanties are all touching a drain that has to be cleaned before the advent of the monsoons.

Mistry said: "The Chamdawadi nullah needs to be widen and it was important to demolish all the hutments on the nullah. Fifteen such hutments have demolished till now."

Maharashtra government said that it would give new homes to Ismail and fellow child star Rubina Ali. But till now no action has been taken in this regard. Now Ismail along with family is on the streets.    

Ismail's mother, Shameem, said: "We also heard that the government had promised us houses, but what happened? We are still homeless. My son has brought glory to the country, shouldn't he get some credit?"
