Sony's SmartEyeglass to be available for purchase by March

Sony Smart EyeglassWashington, Sep 21 : While it released the software development kit for its SmartEyeglass on Friday, Sony has reportedly promised to make its gear available for purchase by the end of March.

The SmartEyeglass, which Sony first showed off at CES 2014, is being touted as a rival to Google Glass. While it aims to be as versatile as Google's gear, it is expected to outdo Glass in some respects, reported The Verge.

Sony's SmartEyeglass is peppered with sensors like, an accelerometer, gyroscope, electronic compass, ambient light sensor and a three megapixel camera along with a wire that connects it to an external battery pack equipped with an extra touch sensor and microphone.

Apart from the battery setup, one of the key differences between Sony's SmartEyeglass and Google Glass is that Sony uses a green monochrome display to overlay information atop the user's general view.

SmartEyeglass will work in sync with compatible Android devices and provide the wearer with notifications and other useful information like navigation directions. (ANI)
