SP’s Rampur candidate Jaya Prada to complain about SP leader Azam Khan to EC

samajwadi partySamajwadi Party candidate, the actress-turned politician Jaya Prada, who is looking towards re-election from Uttar Pradesh's Rampur constituency, has told CNN-IBN channel that she intends lodging a complaint with the Election Commission (EC) about SP leader Azam Khan's alleged attempts to tarnish her image by circulating objectionable material.

Talking about the "cheap campaigning" tactics that Azam Khan and his supporters have supposedly resorted to, Jaya Prada said: "They have released my CDs and posters just to scandalize my image. I am yet to see the content of the CDs but the posters released by them are very bad in taste, damaging my reputation. I am approaching the Election Commission to check this sort of campaigning."

Jaya Prada also admitted that Azam Khan is like a brother to her, his actions are apparently an "insult to women."

Incidentally, with the May 13 Rampur voting schedule close at hand, Azam Khan appears to be calling for Jaya Prada's defeat, while several senior SP MLAs held a meeting in the town to ensure her victory!

Without mentioning the Congress' name, Khan - with the repeated waving of his hand, and his support of Jaya Prada's opponent Noor Bano - gave rather explicit indications that the Utter Pradesh political scenario might just be on the verge of a dramatic change!
