State Government Soon to Frame Bihar Communications Towers’ Rule on Mobile TowersThe State government is reported to soon frame Bihar Communications Towers and Related Structures’ Rule for 2011 regarding the regulation of mobile towers in the urban areas.

The Deputy Chief Minister, S K Modi said; “We will soon frame the rule for the purpose of regulation of old mobile towers which have been set up without prior sanction and new ones to be set up within the urban areas”.

Also, the mobile company is said to pay Rs 40,000 for each tower, for registration, as well as Rs 10,000 each month for towers within the province of the municipal board areas.

However, in the urban panchayat area, the companies would have to pay Rs 30,000 for registration, with extra Rs 8,000 a year, as the amount is said to rise by 25% every 5 years, coupled with concession given to companies intending to pay the annual rent for 5 years at once.

The State government is reported to focus more on companies willing to start, though there would be a ”restriction on allowing construction of towers within a radius of 100 meters from schools, colleges or hospitals”.

Moreover, Mr. Modi expressed that to ensure the safety of the buildings, mobile companies need to give a ‘structural safety certificate’ from a well known engineer.
