Stay away from traffic fumes when pregnant

Pollution can lead to various health problems and it could be deadly for some people with medical problems. Recent study has shown that pollution has adverse effect on chances of women becoming a mother.
Research team indicated that exposure to high levels of pollution could lead to failed pregnancies. Diesel exhaust could be the reason behind miscarriages.
Researchers studied the effect of diesel exhaust particles on fertilized eggs in laboratory. It was found that diesel fumes decreased the cell population of embryos causing developmental problems which increased risk of miscarriage.
Research team led by Dr. Paulo Marcelo Perin, from University of Sao Paulo in Brazil found that exposure to high levels population led to 2.5 fold increase in chances of miscarriage.
Dr. Paulo Marcelo Perin said: "Our recommendation would be to not get pregnant when you have high levels of pollution."
Another study conducted at Penn State College of Medicine in Pennsylvania found that exposure to high levels of nitrogen dioxide reduced chances of successful IVF by around 9 percent.
