Strides Arcolab, Rs 1000 crore plus Bangalore based pharmaceutical company, has received an order from the Government of India for supplying 7.4 lakh capsules of Oseltamivir.

The drug is the generic equivalent of Tamiflu - Roche's innovator product, which is prescribed to treat influenza - A (H1N1).

It should be noted that the company has conducted several necessary bioequivalence studies and established bioequivalence of its product with Tamiflu.

The drug is being manufactured at the company's Bangalore facility approved by the US FDA and is WHO pre-qualified. The supply will commence immediately.
