Sun Pharmaceutical gets U.S. nod for two generic drugs
Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, leading India-based drug manufacturer, has announced that it has received sanction from U.S. Food and Drug Administration to introduce its generic version of GlaxoSmithKline's Imitrex tablets.
According to the company, Imitrex tablets are used for treating migraine and have decent sales numbers in the country.
In a separate release, Sun Pharma has informed that it has also received U.S. regulatory approval to roll out oxaliplatin injections, the copycat version of Sanofi-Aventis' Eloxatin that is used to treat colon and rectal cancer.
The sources said that Oxaliplatin injections are having annual sales of about $2.3 billion in the United States.
The sources further added that Sun Pharma will share a 180-day marketing exclusivity for oxaliplatin with three other generic makers.
