Berlin  - The sweatshirt was one of the most popular items of clothing in the 1980s and now it's making a return in a new look.

"The sweatshirt is something between a pullover and t-shirt," explains styling expert Bernhard Roetzel from Berlin.

"It looks casual thanks to its simple collar. That also explains why it should be used in the same way as a t-shirt."

A sweatshirt is not something to wear in the office but in your free time the new-look sweatshirts that fit snugly and have tighter waistbands look very casual.

"Just like in the 1980s you can also combine one with a polo shirt," says Roetzel. "In that case, make sure you turn the collar up." (dpa)
