Swedish Defense Materiel Administration selects Sectra to develop next-generation encryption capabilities
Sectra has been selected by Swedish Defense Materiel Administration to develop next-generation encryption capabilities for integration with government networks.
According to the official reports, Swedish secure communications systems development company Sectra announced it will provide its high-speed crypto technologies to improve the encryption speeds of the Swedish government's top secret voice, video and other data transfers.
Sectra Communications President Michael Bertilsson said in a statement, "Sectra's high-speed crypto guarantees the highest security and provides the authorities and the defense forces in Sweden access to rapid and secure transmission of information."
As part of the $3.16 million award, it will increase encryption speeds for the Swedish government to 10 gigabytes per second from the current 155 megabytes per second on critical civil and military networks, Sectra says.
It was also reported that the increase encryption capabilities, expected to be delivered in 2012, is part of a larger initiative to strengthen cyber-security and protect sensitive government data in the face of increasing online threats. (With Inputs from Agencies)
