Tata Motors’ Sanand plant inauguratedIn a much-awaited move, Tata Motors announced the inauguration of Sanand facility on Wednesday. It may be noted here that the Sanand unit will be dedicated for the manufacturing of its world's cheapest car, the Nano's.

Moreover, the announcement came nearly two years after it was forced to shift the plant out of West Bengal over a land row. While it was around seven years ago that Ratan Tata made his dream of making an Rs. One lakh car public, the Sanand facility was inaugurated by the Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and Tata Group Chairman Ratan Tata.

Tata said that when he first came to Gujarat as invited by the CM Narendra Modi, it was to him that if he doesn't makes the Nano plant in Gujarat, he'll be a stupid.

However, mentioning the fact that the company ahs made its plant in Gujarat, Ratan Tata proudly said he's not a stupid by any means.

Spread over about 1,100 acres, the Sanand plant has attracted an investment of around Rs. 2,000 crore. It is believed that the volumes will spruce up once the production at Sanand starts in full flow.
