Ex-Microsoft executive hired by Yahoo to run media operationsFormer executive of Microsoft Corp., Jeff Dossett, has been hired by Yahoo Inc. to run the Internet giant's media operations. Dossett, an accomplished mountain climber, was most recently the general manager of Microsoft's MSN. com.

Dossett joins in place of another former Microsoft alumnus, Scott Moore, whose resignation is the latest in a series of high-level departures at the company this year. He will report to report to Hilary Schneider, executive vice president of Yahoo US.

Microsoft says malware threats rise 43 per cent San Francisco - Worldwide threats from malicious software that cripple computers with spy programs, viruses and worms have increased 43 per cent over the past year, Microsoft said Monday in its Security Intelligence Report.

The software giant said that the rise occurred despite a significant improvement in the security of its operating systems, as hackers targeted individual programs and naïve users.

Microsoft said that 90 per cent of new vulnerabilities over the past year targeted programs, while only 10 per cent honed in on operating systems.

Razorfish acquires Spain-based WysiwygMicrosoft-owned digital marketing firm Razorfish has informed that it has acquired Wysiwyg, one of Spain's largest digital advertising agencies.

The purchase of Wysiwyg (which stands for "what you see is what you get") is part of Razorfish's larger goal to generate a third of its sales outside the U. S. by the end of 2009. The Madrid-based Wysiwyg offers digital services across a range of platforms, including video and mobile.

Popular software of Microsoft to go online to compete with Google Docs

MicrosoftOn Tuesday, Microsoft Corp. revealed its plans to soon initiate Web-based versions of some of its most popular office software including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, providing users with the ability to work with documents through a Web browser or mobile phone whenever the PC is not available.

These Web-based programs, which are described as "lightweight versions"of the Microsoft Office programs that are installed on PCs, actually have been initiated to over show Google.
