Thailand Stocks zoom on back of strong Asian markets
Bangkok - Thai shares jumped nearly 6 per cent in value Monday on regional and European increases, despite fears of further political troubles.
The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) index ended at 476.95, up 5.64 per cent.
Analysts said political turmoil was a cause for concern, but noted that share prices had become cheap enough on historical and technical bases that more investors may be tempted into the market.
Thailand's stocks have been hit by fears of a global financial meltdown when political differences seem to be coming to a head in Bangkok.
The political scene was relatively calm Monday as an opposition street protest concluded without incident. (dpa)
