Thursday Marked For The Launch Of Chandrayaan

Thursday will see the launch of Chandrayaan 1, India’s first unmanned mission to Thursday Marked For The Launch Of Chandrayaan the Moon by the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). The Chandrayaan will be sent to the space with the help of a better version of the extremely successful Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV).

Chandrayaan will go into the lunar atmosphere and land to explore what’s there. The weight of the remote sensing satellite will be more than 1300 kilograms and it will carry high resolution remote sensing equipment for the visible spectrum, near infrared and hard frequencies.

With the aim to make a full map of the chemical characteristics and topography of the lunar surface, the mission will survey its surface during the period of two years.

Lately, India has been tasting success related to the space program. On 28th April 2008 India launched ten satellites simultaneously, carrying payload of 824 kg, and thus helped the nation to create history. When Italian astronomical satellite, AGILE, was sent into space on 23rd April, it marked India’s first fully commercial launch. On 10th January 2007, four satellites were released into the orbit, when India unveiled the PSLV C-7 vehicle.
