Toyota has repaired 50000 vehicles and still counting

Toyota-Motor-LogoToyota is weighing moves to win back consumer confidence once repairs are complete on vehicles that have been recalled or are on sale. Toyota last fall recalled millions of vehicles for floor mats that can pin down a car's gas pedal.

Sales sank last month after the company stopped selling eight of its most popular models to fix a separate defect that can make the gas pedal stick.

Toyota had called for a repair of 2.3 million vehicles over a sticky gas pedal problem and is done with repairing 500,000 of those. Longer warranty periods are being considered by the top management of Toyota to ensure that the lost confidence in their customers is won back. The quality benchmarks that are already so high for Toyota are considering a further push.

Dealers have accused media of hyping the problem and presenting a negative image of Toyota, despite Toyota spending around $2 billion and cost of 100,000 sales units.

Service hours have been extended, weekends have been canceled, and above all the media. This problem is giving Toyota a real run for their money and costing them dearly.
