Truck plunges into ravine, kills 10 in Indonesia Jakarta - A truck packed with 42 people plunged into a ravine in the eastern Indonesian province of East Nusa Tenggara, killing 10 people and injuring dozens of others, a local media report said Thursday.

The accident took place on Wednesday when a truck, which was used to carry passengers, overturned and plunged into a ravine in East Manggarai district on Flores Island, about 1,700 kilometres east of Jakarta, the online news portal Kompas. com said.

A local police officer was quoted as saying the truck, which was allowed to carry a maximum of 25 people, was packed with 42 people and the overload was the cause of the accident.

Thirty-two people were injured in the accident, many remain in serious condition. (dpa)
