Two Hospitalized In Chandigarh With Suspected Swine Flu

Swine FluTwo suspected cases of swine flu came to light in Chandigarh on Wednesday.

Though the blood samples of a man admitted to the Government Multi-Specialty Hospital (GMSH) in Sector 16 on Wednesday were negative for the deadly flu, another patient has been admitted in the hospital with similar or related symptoms.

Both the patients had recently traveled to Thailand for business since June 04.

They landed in New Delhi on June 8.

The hospital authorities said that the blood samples of the new patient, a 35-year-old resident of Sector 12, Panchkula, has been forwarded to the National Institute of Communicable Diseases (NICD) in New Delhi.

A health official stated that the results are expected by Friday.

The 50-year-old patient of the same group, also a resident of Panchkula, told the health functionaries that he showed “mild symptoms” of swine flu and was under treatment.

In total, 15-odd people from the tricity were part of the group that visited Thailand.
