After reporting swine flu symptoms at the medical screening unit of the NSC Bose International Airport in Kolkata, two (2) passengers were admitted to the Infectious Disease (ID) Hospital on Saturday.

Mr. Sujit Bakshi, Additional General Manager (Medical), made this announcement.

According to reports, Ramen Banerjee (47) and Krishna Shaw (23) landed at Kolkata airport at 10.40 am from a Jet Airways flight from Bangkok.

Shaw is a residence of Ichhapur in North 24 Parganas, where Chatterjee is a residence of Rajarhat near Salt Lake.

Mr. Bakshi said that both of them were suffering from cold and fever, so they were instantly given safety measures such as gloves, three layered masks, cap and an apron and shifted to hospital for thorough check up.

Swab samples from the mouths and noses of the patients have been sent for test at the National Institute of Virology, Pune.

The results are expected by Monday.

The two were hospitalized a day after one person who had been admitted with suspected symptoms on May 20, was discharged after testing negative for the deadly disease.

In the meantime, a total of 90 persons have been examined for swine flu up till now.

The WHO has reported 11,168 laboratory confirmed swine flu infection cases from 42 nations thus far.

There have been 86 deaths owing to the fatal disease all through the world.
