Two Indonesian diplomats injured in suicide bombing in Kabul

Jakarta - Indonesia condemned a suicide bombing attack Monday outside the Indian embassy in Kabul, killing 44 people and wounding around 147 others, including two Indonesian diplomats, the foreign ministry said Tuesday.

"The Indonesian government condemned the suicide bomb attack outside the Indian embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan, on Monday," said a statement issued by the Indonesian Foreign Ministry Affairs.

"The Indonesian government convey a deepest condolences to the family of the victims, and hope that the perpetrators behind the attack can be captured immediately and brought to justice," the statement said.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Teuku Faizasyah confirmed that two Indonesian diplomats were injured in the attack.

"The two Indonesian diplomats are Ahimsa Sukartono, head of representatives operational affairs, and Abdul Mufti, second secretary of the Indonesian embassy," Faizasyah said.

"They suffered minor injuries after they were hit by pieces of glass from smashed windows," he said, adding that the Indonesian diplomats were hurt because the Indonesian embassy was located next to the Indian embassy.

"Besides the two Indonesian diplomats, five Afghan police security officers who guarded the Indonesian embassy were killed," he said. (dpa)
