Two Persons Test Negative For H1N1 Virus

Swine FluThe recent test reports of the two suspected H1N1 cases test negative.

Two persons Satyajit Chauhan, 30, of Hyderabad and Mahendra Reddy, 29, of Ananthpur who came from New York and Louis Ville, Kentucky respectively via Frankfurt reported themselves at the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Chest Diseases, on Friday afternoon.

Dr. Shashidhar Buggi, RGCID Superintendent, said that throat swab and blood samples of the suspects were forwarded to National Institute of Virology, Pune for lab tests.

He also said that two were discharged after the conformation that their reports were negative.

Chauhan and Reddy, travelling from the US, arrived at Bengaluru International Airport on Wednesday.

Both the passengers suffered from cough and running nose and one of them also reported chest pain.

After screening at the airport, they're referred to the institute as their symptoms were similar to those in persons infected with H1N1 flu virus.

The two were treated as out-patients and put on observation.

Dr. Buggi said, "They thought it was their responsibility to abide by the guidelines set by the health department for the safety of others. Both of them are now happy to go home."

The patients were sent home together with N-95 3M masks for their use and the genera l3-layered mask for use by those they reside with.

The N-95 3M mask does not transmit the droplets and the general mask is a safety gear for people around them, it was explained.
