UK motor manufacturing to surpass France

UK motor manufacturingAccording to the latest figures released, the UK motor manufacturing is growing at a strong pace and is expected to surpass its rival France after around four decades.

Carmakers in the UK are increasing production to meet growing demand both within the UK and around the world. UK's car production is expected to surpass the troubled car manufacturing industry in neighbouring France, which will allow the UK to become the third largest producer of cars in Europe behind Germany and Spain.

The latest figures are expected to show that the total output in the UK reached 1.55million cars built in 2013 compared to .47 million in 2012 and 1.35million in 2011. The figure is expected to reach a record 2 million within three years. On the other hand, France's production is expected to fall to around 1.54million cars for 2013 compared to 1.66million in 2012 and 1.88 million in 2011. Germany is expected to have produced 5.45 million cars in 2013 with Spain has produced 1.76 million.

Britain's Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) said, "We're currently neck and neck with France. But Britain's car production is on an upward trend. France's is on a downward trend. We're about to cross. It could well be that the new figures will show that 2013 is the year in which we overtake them."
