Union Ministry urges young doctors to serve in rural India

Ghulam-Nabi-AzadGhulam Nabi Azad, Union Minister for Health & Family Welfare urged upcoming doctors to move towards helping the people residing in the rural parts of the country.

Addressing during the 94th Annual day and Convocation at the Lady Hardinge Medical College, he said, "I invite the young graduating doctors and specialists to join hand with Government and come forward to serve in the rural areas where the real India lives".

Talking of the proposed plan of redevelopment the Minister corroborated that Government has allotted Rs. 387 crore for the institution alone where it seeks to increase the number of seats from current 127 to 200 in case of undergraduates and 70 to 130 for the post-graduates.

In addition to the above, the ministry has chalked out plans to take care of rural health manpower, distance learning, family medicine courses and a rural health cadre, which in turn boosts the human resources sector of rural areas. And to put this in function, the government is making the odds meet, which takes care from the scratch in terms of buildings, equipments, medicines, diagnostics and human resources.
