US missionary alleged of child smuggling in Haiti

Laura SilsbA US missionary named Laura Silsby has been convicted of taking 33 children illegally out of Haiti. Haiti was the victim of the devastating earthquake earlier in this year. Now the US missionaries are also found doing these illegal activities taking the advantage of the misery of the earthquake victims and the monarchy in the country.

Nine other Americans were involved in this smuggling activity with Silsby when she was caught while they were trying to take these children to the Dominican Republic. The nine other missionaries were not charged and freed to go. All of them have informed that they were trying to help the kids mistakenly thinking them as orphans. But the children were not orphans rather they have been handed over to their parents after the recovery.

About 220,000 were killed and over one million left homeless by the earthquake in Haiti in the month of January this year. All the US missionaries detained but only Silsby was charged of such accusation. Earlier, she had been accused of abducting the children in the camps.
