U.S. Navy places order of next-generation entry panels with Orbit International Corp.According to official reports, the U. S. Navy has placed an order with Orbit International Corp. for the delivery of its next-generation entry panels to upgrade vessel consoles.

Its Electronics unit was selected to deliver its Color Programmable Entry Panels to replace the Navy's current Plasma Entry Panels integrated with the UYQ-21 Naval console, New York's Orbit has said.

Orbit designed and began deploying its original Plasma Entry Panels for the Navy in the early 1980s. The company's new Color Programmable Entry Panels are designed to upgrade the technology with next-generation capabilities.

Dennis Sunshine, Orbit president and chief executive officer, said in a statement, "These older Plasma Entry Panels have had a successful history providing console operators with critical real time data for Command and Control Operation Rooms, as well as Fire Control areas, for all U. S. naval cruisers, destroyers, and fleet carriers utilizing the UYQ-21 console systems."

The announced order for its new color panel is from the Depot Level Repairable Center at the Naval Logistics Agency is worth approximately $1 million, Orbit further adds. (With Inputs from Agencies)
