US Senate Committee to discuss policy for post-election Pak

Lahore, Feb 28: The United States Senate’s Foreign Relations Committee is likely to meet on Thursday to discuss the post-election scenario in Pakistan and to decide on ways to cope with it.

According to the Daily Times, the committee which is headed by Senator Joseph Biden, would meet to discuss the US foreign policy to be adopted in post-election Pakistan.

Whether Senator Barak Obama, who is also a member of the committee would attend the meeting is yet to be confirmed.

US Deputy Secretary of State John Negroponte will also appear before the senators to present the Bush Administration’s views on the post-election scenario in Pakistan.

According to diplomatic sources, Senators Biden, Kerry and Hegal have agreed to recommend the tripling of non-military aid to Pakistan as a ‘democracy dividend’.(ANI)
