Vinoth, Krishna top in JK Races

Vinoth, Krishna top in JK Races Chennai, Dec 5 : On an afternoon that dragged on endlessly with the programme running behind schedule due to protests and collisions, K. Vinoth of Wallace Sports and Karthik Krishna of Rams Racing won the two races of Round two in the JK Tyre Junior Cup National Racing Championship here Saturday.

Vinoth, starting from pole position, outpaced the field in the first race that he won comfortably, sparing nearly three seconds to Krishna who survived a protest for "weaving and blocking" that third placed Vikas Anand of Wallace Sports lodged.

It was Vinoth's third outright win in six races, having achieved a double last weekend.

In the second race, however, Krishna slipped past Vinoth at Turn 2, diving on the inside in a daring overtaking maneuver. Vinoth spun trying to close the door and in the process, lost track position. Krishna went on to win the race.

Vinoth, who had won a double last weekend, thus lost crucial championship and is now in fourth position with 40 points, behind leader Vikash Anand, the most consistent of the drivers, who is well placed with 58 points following two podium finishes today.
