Vodafone announced Japan sale

Vodafone announced Japan saleVodafone co. announced the sale of its interest in Japan to the new owner Softbank Corp. of Japan for £3.1bn. This giant co. has decided to take this step as a part of its new strategy to exploit its operations in Europe, Africa and India.

The co. has also declared a 43% rise in profits.

In September this year, Vodafone has planned to place its entire minority stakes in other companies into a single, separately managed unit.

Earlier this year, co. has withdrawal its services from China and sold its 3.2% interest in China market for $6.5bn, and has scheduled December for winding up its activities from Japan and sale of its Japanese business with first £1.6bn payment from Softbank and later on continues its withdrawal from China.

Beside of decreasing its interest in China and Japan and its increasing earnings at Verizon Wireless in which the co. holds a 45% stake, the co. has not included US in the list of its target markets.

It was reported by Vodafone that revenues in Western Europe has shown some downfall in recent years which needs more attention than increasing revenue growth in developing markets.
