Wife and daughter of US senator injured in car crash
Office of senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has confirmed that his wife and daughter were taken to a Washington-area hospital for treatment on Thursday after a car crash.
The Washington Post reported that Jon Summers, a spokesman for Sen. Reid, D-Nev., said in a statement that Reid's wife, Landra, 69, and his daughter, Lana Reid-Barringer, 48, sustained serious but not life-threatening injuries.
The statement said "Mrs. Reid has a broken nose, broken back and broken neck. Lana has a neck injury and facial lacerations. Both Mrs. Reid and Lana are conscious, can feel their extremities, and according to doctors their injuries are non-life threatening."
The Post further said that Landra Reid and Reid-Barranger were being treated at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, Va. The drivers of two other vehicles involved in the collision were being transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Harry Reid, who is expected to return to Senate on Thursday evening, was called out of a meeting and rushed to the hospital. (With Inputs from Agencies)
