Wipro announces changes to simplify IT business structure

wiproOn Monday, Wipro has announced that there will be some sweeping changes across its IT business. T K Kurien has taken the charge as the new chief executive officer of the company recently. He has decided to restructure the business policies of the firm.

Wipro has decided to drive the business by six new business units now. The main aim of this change is to enhance the quicker decision making and accountability.

Wipro is the leading firm in Indian IT services with the networth of the firm is around $6 billion. These changes have been considered as a part of the first round of restructuring in the company after Chairman Azim Premji’s replaced joint CEOs last month.

There will also be two distinct divisions in the company. They are Wipro Infotech and Wipro EcoEnergy. Wipro Infotech will be led by Anand Sankaran and Wipro EcoEnergy will be headed by G K Prasanna.

As per the new guideline, the company will now be divided into six segments. These six segments are Energy and Utilities, Finance Solutions, Media and Telecom, Pharmaceutical, Healthcare and Life-Sciences, Manufacturing and Hi-Tech and Retail Consumer Goods, Transportation and Government. From 1st of April this new structure will be functional in the firm.
