Women take lumps in breast, a sign of breast cancer, lightlyRecent study has revealed that many women don’t take lumps in their breast seriously even though these lumps could be early sign of breast cancer.  

The study by The Irish Cancer Society indicated many women to visit their GPs for months after first discovering lump in their breast.  

Data from the study showed that four out of ten women don’t visit their GP immediately. 16 percent wait for two weeks while 26 percent women wait for a month or more before going to a doctor.

Despite the fact that early detection and treatment can save lives of many women dying from breast cancer nearly 4 percent women don’t take their lump seriously and wait for a year to seek medical attention.

Three-quarters of women who contract breast cancer are over 50 but doctors advice that women of all age groups should get lumps in their breast check.

Study also revealed that many women avoid visit to a doctor regarding lump in barest believing that they are too young to get breast cancer. While many women believe that they could only get cancer if it was in their family.
