Workers go on strike at M&M Nashik plantWorkers at the Nashik plant of automaker, Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) have gone on strike to demand higher wages from the management after discussions did not lead to acceptable solution.

The company said in a statement that it has a production loss of around 500 vehicles due to the strike until now. But, it also pointed out that the there is enough stockpiles for three weeks and thus the strike will not affect sales. M&M also said that strike started at 6:00 pm and is still continuing at the plant. The company produces Xylo, Scorpio, Bolero and sedan Verito at its unit in Nashik.

”Mahindra and Mahindra believes in fair treatment and will keep its dialogue ongoing with the union representatives for stoppage of the current tool down and a planned strike so as to reach a mutual agreement,” it added.

The company, which is based on Mumbai, also said that the union of workers had sent the notice of strike to the company management. The strike is on its third day and will continue to affect production at the strike.

Meanwhile, the company is looking to set up a new passenger vehicle and four-wheeler load carriers manufacturing unit in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
