Yamaha Ray: at a glance

Yamaha Ray: at a glanceTwo-wheeler manufacturer Yamaha's recently introduced scooter "the Ray" targets at young working women and college students.

Priced at Rs. 46,000, the Ray will be available in a range of cooler shades to pick from, including the Purple-pastel dual-tone version which looks more appealing to the fair sex

The Yamaha Ray is powered by an 113cc engine that promises to deliver a mileage of 45 kilometers per litre.

It also features triangular-shaped console that is flanked on either side by turn indicators, high beam signal lamp, a telescopic front suspension, a hip stopper, sizeable grab bars and unconventional yet stylish tail lamp.

Unlike huge-bodied scooters, the Ray has a well-sculpted leaner body frame that measures 1835mm by 675mm by 1075mm in length, breadth and height.

There is also a 15.5 litre under-seat storage spot, which is enough to carry a thing of the size of a helmet, or to keep a helmet when it is not in use. The compact leg shields provide the rider's feet protection in the advent of a nasty fender bender.

The subsidiary of the Japan-based auto giant Yamaha aims to capture 20 per cent of Indian two-wheeler market by the year of 2016. India Yamaha Motor CEO Hiroyuki Suzuki recently said that the company aimed at expanding sales of two-wheelers to 2 million units by 2016 and to 2.8 million units by 2018.
